Gaming Topics runs on open source. Almost every game here was written by someone else and released under a permissive licence — MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD, Zlib, ISC, the Unlicense or CC0 — which allows us to host it as long as we keep the author's notice with it. This page is that notice, gathered in one place.

What these licences ask of us

A permissive licence is generous but not unconditional. It lets anyone use, change and redistribute the work, including commercially, on one standing condition: the copyright notice and the licence text travel with the copy. So the licence file that came with each game stays inside the package we serve, the author is named on that game's own page, and the full list sits below.

Two things a licence does not grant, and we treat both separately. It covers the code, never the author's trademark or brand, which is why games here carry descriptive names of our own rather than the name of any commercial title they may resemble. And it is not an endorsement: no author listed on this page has approved of, partnered with, or been consulted by Gaming Topics.

If a game here is yours

You have the final word on it. Write to us through the contact page and tell us what you want: a different credit, a link to somewhere specific, or the game taken down entirely. We will do it, and we will not ask you to justify the request. That applies just as much to a game listed as attribution pending below — telling us it is yours is enough.

Every game below is published under the permissive licence its author chose, and the notice each licence requires is kept with the game. Gaming Topics is not affiliated with these authors and they do not endorse this site. If you are the author of a game here and want it credited differently or taken down, use the contact page and we will act on it.

Games with attribution pending

For the games below we no longer hold the record of where they came from. Rather than guess at an author, we are listing them openly while we trace each one. If you recognise your work here, please tell us and we will credit it or remove it.
